Unsung Heroes
The Unsung Hero award was established at Trinity Church in 2006 and focuses on recognizing a person in the community who regularly helps and offers care to others in need, seeking no acknowledgement for themselves. Recipients give their energy, wisdom and assistance to a number of areas of need, as well as offer support and encouragement in their everyday encounters.
2024 Unsung Hero: Rose and Ron Hinebaugh
On Sunday, March 2, 2025 Trinity Episcopal Church recognized two community members with the Unsung Hero Award for their selfless contributions. Rose and Ron Hinebaugh were honored for their dedicated service through the Meals on Wheels program sponsored by Bay Aging.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rose and Ron Hinebaugh persistently maintained the weekly Meals on Wheels routes in the upper Lancaster area. Despite the personal risks associated with the uncertainties and isolation brought about by the pandemic, their commitment significantly supported some of our most vulnerable residents. In their acceptance speech, the Hinebaughs noted their initial involvement in meal delivery was in response to a community need. As their visits and deliveries increased, they received numerous expressions of gratitude from the recipients, which continually motivated them to maintain their efforts to the present day. Representatives from Bay Aging, Cynthia Taylor and Judy Jessie, commended Mr. and Mrs. Hinebaugh for their sacrifices, loyalty and ongoing service to the Meals on Wheels program, highlighting the profound impact they have had on many lives.
Following the church service and the award presentation, a reception was held at Townsend Hall.
